A prolonged drought is forecast for many parts of the country (see U.S. Drought
Monitor below). Although safety, reduced maintenance, energy conservation, and
less-obtrusive barrier protection continue to be deciding factors for consumers
who elect to include an automatic cover system with their pool, significant
numbers of informed pool customers are purchasing automatic pool covers as a
means of eliminating evaporation.
Although most types of pool covers effectively control evaporation while a pool
remains covered, unless a pool cover can be conveniently and easily put in place
and removed, the cover is not realistic as a means of preventing evaporation.
Since automatic covers are the only type of cover that can be extended or retracted
in seconds with the push of a button, automatic covers become the only practical
means of preventing swimming-pool evaporation
